# Debit cards took the lead: Australia, 2007–2025

Version 1: source, data and chart exports.

Shares by NUMBER of consumer payments in seven survey years:2007,2010,2013,2016,2019,2022,2025. Three selected methods are cash, debit cards, credit/charge cards; other methods omitted. Excludes payments aboveA$9,999, family/friend transfers, transport cards and automatic payments. Keep rounded source values, do not interpolate annual observations or renormalise. Card aggregate can differ from rounded debit+credit; do not add aggregate and components. Cash latest 13%→15%, RBA describes use as stable; no continuous decline/comeback/significance or causation claim.

Official article was read successfully through the source owner’s web reader. A later unauthenticated attempt to save original HTML returned HTTP403 and was not retried. The frozen rba-table1-web-extract.json is a hashed structured transcription of official Table1, not original response bytes. This adapter makes no new RBA network request.

Source release: 2026-05-28. Frozen source snapshot: 22 October 2026. These are source dates, not a Meplar publication date.

Exact desktop/mobile SVG and PNG artwork and original CSV files are copied without redrawing. Original source metadata is retained under original/metadata.json in the ZIP.

Offline reproduction: unzip source-and-data.zip and run `python3 reproduce.py`. Python standard library only; no network. The script rebuilds both CSVs exactly and verifies frozen source/art hashes. It does not rerender PNG. Source provenance records original capture limits.

See SOURCE_TERMS.txt for attribution and rights; no broader artwork license is invented.
